And then there are masks
that people wear
Hidden to all, so no one can ask
About the unbearable crosses
They often bear
You,
Who I knew, or thought I did
What untold pain
Your pretty smile hid
What sadness what anguish
Gnawed you, that you could not rid
What remains
When life crashes down
When you are caught in
A swirl that makes you drown
And all that you see
Is the world’s angry frown
Rise
They say, and never gives you a hand
You are alone , and the rest is a gang
You against them
Them against you
They walk all over
They walk over you.
My beautiful soul
Just know that you are true
Someday somewhere
In a beautiful land
You will find compassion
And those who will help you stand
By giving you a helping hand
Surrounded by love
You will unmask yourself
There will be others to hold you
This bit, please do know
Till then, my dear
You and I will be in search
Of this distant land
So out of reach
This land of love
And peace and care
This unmasked land
Where we can freely share
Our hopes
Our joys
Our sorrows too
This land of heart awaits me and you
