A Flying Thought

How does it feel to be a wet crow?
Drenched to the core..
Sputtering.
Trying to find its space amidst the onslaught of rain….

How does it feel to be a free bird?
Up in the skies,
Wind on its wings…
Soaring…
Hunting its prey.

The wet crow shakes the water off its body
Regains its balance …
For a while… it seeks shelter
And then flies off…
A free bird…

And such is the circle of life….
Alternating between onslaughts and sunshine…
Sometimes a wet crow
Sometimes a free bird…

  1. Spectacular capture and the outstanding imagery in this is enhanced by your poetic choice of metaphors blended with the rhythm flowing is so wonderfully captured. So nice I loved it!

  2. The crow is a unique avian.
We need to learn a lot from the crow.
Crow is basically a scavenger but I have shot crows catching fish from the pond.
Never the less the crows eat almost everything but never eat a dead crow.
The unity between the crows is something, that we should learn.
What you said is absolutely true, the crows are fighters.. Even if they get their wings drenched with water, they shrug and dry their wings and get set to fly.

    1. Abhijit da, You spoke my heart
The crow is an interesting and intelligent creature.
      Thank you for your appreciation

  3. Dear Ipsita,

Thank you for beautifully connecting the circle of life with a crow as a metaphor. Indeed, it is a very positive write up with images. We seldom avoid crows in regular life but appreciate their presence when we lose a dear person. We imagine the soul has taken refuge into the crow visiting our home every morning. Nonetheless, your lines also convey a very important lesson that failures are part of life but aren’t permanent.

  4. Yes, Abhijit da,
    Crows are intersting birds..
not pretty, not tuneful, not majestic,,, yet,,,a survivor!
